although neither he nor his wife, an emergency room pharmacist, nor their 5-year-old son (although who can really tell with young kids i guess) have gotten it as far as i know, so i suppose he's pretty sure i'm the one being silly at this point. which is possible but it's also better than getting/giving covid so whatever.
