Pro Mahjong because I have a problem. I'm hoping to find Mr Driller for a reasonable price at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo.

Actually I'm hoping to find a Swan Crystal for a reasonable price there too but I'm not holding any breaths. Then I'll have a black and white, a final fantasy II color, and a crystal. Because I need three Wonderswans?

mr driller is one I do not have! I think it'll be hard to find that one. When it comes to swancrystals, I've been monitoring ebay, and basically if you try really hard you should be able to get one for just under $70. if you want to get one without any trouble, you'll probably pay around $90. And if you're curious, they were going for between $75 and $100 in stores in japan, so there's no benefit to trying to get one there!

Yeah, I'm not really expecting to find driller but I'd be happy. Most of what I want to find at PRGE is obscure crap and PCE titles so I don't think I'll get lucky but since I have to be there anyway I might as well shop around. The benefit of not finding anything is keeping my bank account happier... As far as swancrystals go last I checked they were over a hundred but that was 6 months ago and probably a couple shitty sellers on ebay. I have noticed that the clear blue and smoke/black ones almost always go for more, I'm guessing because they are a fair bit nicer looking than the violet and "wine"

That's the sad thing about the Crystal. IIRC, there are only four colors and they all suck. The earlier models were all over the place awesome.

You are correct. I like the clear blue as I usually do on anything but the solid colors in particular are so not appealing I wonder how they made it into production. Crazier still, I believe they were actually voted on by the public!

Yes. I can't remember what order they came out in, but the first two were Bandai's fault and I think the second two colors were decided by vote on their website.

Btw, I'm sorta surprised these things are so expensive. When I was shopping for WS (albeit, long ago) everything was insanely cheap except like three games. Are Americans buying these now? I noticed a thread on NeoGeo.com about the Swan but I didn't read it. It would be kinda sad if a punch of collectards scooped up all the Swan shit, especially since there really aren't many WS games that are gaijin friendly and also fun.

I think it's actually japanese collectors, somehow. I'm not really sure where they're going, but I do see them being more expensive in Japan than here, and the prices have risen just in the last year. My best guess is it's actually speculative price raising - with everything else getting more expensive, why not the wonderswan too, since there's not much to go around? I am glad I got judgment silversword when I had the chance - too bad about dicing knight!

did you find anything? my friend found me a wine red swancrystal for 50 bucks, so that's nice. Also I have the smoke black color, and it's fine! But the original wonderswans were classy. I have one that's white with red buttons, but it's broken :\ It was 100 yen, so I took the risk. There's a nice (in my opinion) color for the crystal, but it was limited.

Nothing crazy, no, but I was stuck behind a booth for the majority of the first day and a good deal of Sunday. Almost everything I did get, coincidentally, I got from mutual friends/accquaintances of ours.

Also, I really like that color as well. Shame it's going to be even more expensive!

Ah, I see. Does it run without the cart? Anyway, once again Bandai was on the cutting edge. iPhone programs that do that now take in shitloads of money.

I'm guessing it comes with a specific cart, but I don't know for sure. That's what would make sense to me, since it's the cheapest way to go about it!
