I've decided to frontlight my wonderswan - do any of you folks still have afterburner kits lying around? there are apparently some decent alternatives now, but I thought I'd check for that one first! I do wonder how much it cuts into battery life - swancrystal is already down to 15 hours vs the 40 of the original B&W, but even if it's 7 hours it's better than a modern handheld!

I have two Swan Crystals. One Mash modded for me and one stock. My advice is, unless you plan to play it total darkness, keep it stock. The look of the Crystal, like the NGPC/NNGPC is so amazingly crisp and perfect. That FLU kinda muddies everything just because it's an extra layer of plastic in the way. In total darkness though, yeah, obviously the FLU is the thing to have. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (19:22:22 10/09/15 EST)
The big thing with the GB modders is, apparently, LOCA (Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive). I have never used the stuff, but the idea is that it forms a clear adhesive layer between the light panel and the LCD panel. I guess it's supposed to be a lot better. If you look around, I think you'll find some frontlight mod guys recommending a specific brand/style of LOCA. A couple years back, I found a guy in China that sold GBA frontlight panels that were okay for NGPC. They were just a bit of a pain to source and install, so I didn't pursue this as a service. I've tried the Kitsch-Bent panel, too. I didn't like that they have small ribs that kinda screw up the optics. (link inside) Please let us know how it goes (or went). (Flavor) (16:56:08 10/20/15 EST)
