At first I tried to learn mahjong proper but quickly tossed that idea and just felt my way through. By the time I unlocked everything I was operating on pure instinct, couldn't even necessarily rationalize or explain what I was doing. It was a pretty interesting experience. (n/t) from substance J.
Playing that way how long did it take you to unlock everything? Did you get the panel pictures too? What skill level? This is all just for curiosity's sake. I find it interesting that someone with no real knowledge of mahjong could push through but I have noticed on the lowest settings that it's pretty easy to create a closed basic hand (4 melds and a pair) so if you only know that much it's totally doable, i guess. For me, having learned a lot of the rules of mahjong except some of the tricker hands, It's taken about 3 days of moderate play on 3 and 4 skill to unlock about 2/3rds of the stuff. I'll probably up the difficulty more for the remaining stuff and try to finish the game by Monday since I have a few days off.
