dear mathew kumar! happy birthday! i kind of hate the facebook stream of meaningless birthday comments, so i thought i'd give you a super special birthday greeting here where no one else would. enjoy your 30s! i'm over halfway through and they're pretty okay. i became a dad, promoted to youth services librarian, and completed my master's degree in my 30s thus far. so, if i'm any example, you'll be able to get lots done during your 30s. have a fun day! guys, my computer doesn't like to load all those youtube clips on the monkey board. if i were to communicate my computer's feelings on the matter it'd look like :( (n/t) (tekcop) (20:11:29 09/07/11 est)
mine's more like :x, but yeah. in related news, my computer is now an android tablet and a case with a built-in keyboard. most people think it's cool, but actually it sucks. (n/t) (and opa opa) (17:39:24 09/08/11 est)
nooooooooooooooo~~! (n/t) (the burgeoning tablet industry) (21:55:18 09/08/11 est)
can you go into detail? i was thinking about hacking a nook into an android tablet and unlocking bluetooth to add a keyboard, and making the whole thing a replacement for my netbook. (n/t) (maniac) (23:33:01 09/13/11 est)
i have a nook running rooted 1.2 (stock), instead of a dedicated tablet rom (e.g., cyanogenmod) -- mainly because my wife also uses the native nook reading and shopping functions. works okay, but can get slow with flash pages; also, it has wifi problems with my router (linksys wnr200) when running wpa2. (n/t) (yoodaa) (15:33:24 09/14/11 est)
for me, this tablet is essentially the only computer i have. i don't have any other laptop or a desktop type computer at home. so for me the problem is that android is not really a replacement for windows. maybe i just need to explore the app market more (the bewildering number of apps is another sort of frustrating), but so far i just haven't been able to find apps that replace the programs i'm used to using in windows. for photo viewing and editing or a music library and player, for example. the stock apps are particularly useless and i haven't found any apps that can do what i want and feel really solid. one group of programs i have explored pretty well is word processors and there definitely isn't one that's usable, so i've just been using a text editor and doing my formatting on a pc at school before printing. this will change if the tablet market continues to burgeon, though, and there'll be more windows-equivalent apps, i'm sure. if you get a bluetooth keyboard, my other complaint may not be as much of a problem for you, but having only one usb port has been bothering me because it means i can't have both my keyboard and flash drive plugged in. obviously i could use a hub, but that's just another thing to carry. sometimes i also need a mouse, which will be yet another thing to carry, that i never had to carry with a laptop. of course, being able to take the tablet out of the keyboard/case and use it on its own is great for a lot of things and the touch screen makes for some fabulous apps (like the ti-83 emulator i use for my precalc class or the molecule viewer for bio). if you're not planning to totally replace having a windows computer and if you spend a little more money to get bluetooth accessories and a higher quality case (mine's cheap chinese crap that i can tell is going to start falling apart any minute), you won't have as many complaints. what browser ya using? should be some kind of option or extension available to not load and/or play videos by default. (yoodaa) (15:35:34 09/14/11 est)
anyone wanna come over and play fighting games? i'll buy chips, salsa, beer, and a reality where we no longer need to work to sustain such pastimes. (twelvest) (17:49:37 09/04/11 est)

anyone here ever want to give it all up and devote the rest of their lives to making shitty kaiju movies? that's how i feel today. it's probably not a winning idea but it seems like it might be fun. (twelvest) (18:48:16 08/06/11 est)

hey guys, remember when the wii u came out, and chad was like "i dunno, i bet it'll be fun." and joel was like "fun?! what are you, a corporate sell out? if you're not having fun exactly the same way you were 15 years ago, you've given up and turned into a minivan!" or something to that effect. that was hilarious.
